The Inertia

Collaborations sometimes have a tendency to fall flat. But this one makes sense: Lib Tech and …Lost’s Matt Biolos have seen a fairly successful partnership with models like the Puddle Jumper finding traction, and carving out a definite niche, in the surf industry. But this snowboard designed by the San Clemente, Calif. shaper—the Mayhem Rocket—looks super fun as a powder board.

Biolos has long been a Mammoth Mountain devotee and has developed several models with Lib including the Roundnose Fish and the Short Fat. Described as a “short, wide, elliptical side cut, pow floater that rips the hardpack and slashes everything in sight,” on the LibTech website, the Rocket (named for one of …Lost’s surf designs) has Lib’s Mike Olson fired up: “Kind of a dream come true for all of us Washingtonians,” he said. “We grew up skiing and snowboarding and now we get to build surfboards with Matt Biolos and Matt’s loving it because he gets to build snowboards.” The Rocket retails for $699.
