One of the many things I love about surfing is all the amazing experiences that come with it. I've never seen or surfed with a whale shark, but I think that almost every time I go surf I am amazed by how much there is to look at; the colors of the sky, pelicans flowing with the waves, fish, dolphins or simply just observing how the water moves. What I liked most of a recent trip to California is that you could surf while the sun was setting over the ocean. It always creates the best colors and you never really know what to expect.

I’ve only ever seen the northern lights one time during a backcountry ski touring trip with my dad and brother in Northern Sweden. I imagine it being very special to see it from the water. Hopefully in the future… Photo: Jonas Claesson
I am dreaming of getting a nice van again. I used to have a turquoise VW Buss called Åke that me and my friend Erik took from Sweden to France one summer, looking for waves all the way.The Slow Down to get farther (correct spelling is farther some people pointed out) idea is that in many situations I get a better result and have more fun if I slow down and take in the view and enjoy the ride instead of just focusing on the end destination. Back in the day I imagine this is how the surf check was done. Photo: Jonas Claesson
Living on The Australian East Coast, we are fortunate to see the migration of the humpbacks back and forth to Antarctica every year. It is always a special moment being in the water with whales. Photo: Jonas Claesson
