Surf Film Festivals are all over the globe right now. Some can argue they’re slowing dying, and all can support the idea that they’re culturally relevant. There’s really no better way to get a snapshot of surf culture than to visit a celebration of the global surf community where nobody’s actually surfing. That sounds ironic or maybe just completely backwards. But consider that these are activities that force us out of the water long enough to put crowds of people in one space to showcase all these artistic, dramatic, and thoughtful tribute…all for the one thing it’s making everybody antsy to get back out and do. Inspiration breeds inspiration. And then we all go back out and repeat the same cycle, coming back a year later to share sentiments on all the waves that inspired us since that last gathering.
For the 2015 London Surf Film Festival that means 2 World Premieres, 2 European Premieres and 7 UK Premieres of films that are going to start the whole process one more time.
