The Inertia

During college, I had one semester off and decided to spend a few months in Costa Rica. This was a monumental trip that switched my focus away from a future nine-to-five life when I started a small short-lived business called Osa Surf, shaping and painting surfboards.

A few years, a lot of traveling, even more surfing, and a handful of jobs eventually led her to Maui where I began to paint full-time and focus on waves. Maui’s beauty inspired my current style — a style that I call “Exaggerated Realism,” which is capturing and enhancing the beauty of the ocean like an HDR photo and juxtaposing unexpected elements such as sacred geometry and animals in the wave paintings.

After showing in some very prestigious galleries on Maui including the Wyland Lahaina, I decided to share the beauty of Hawaii with the mainland and am currently on tour doing art shows all over the United States. I can be seen anywhere from Florida to Chicago to Colorado “Makin’ Waves” in a retro RV with my dog, Ballena. Eventually, I want to return to Hawaii to surf, continue to paint waves, and grow organic food, starting a farm-to-fork non-profit with the Hawaiian public school system.
