The Inertia

Getting a sneak peek into the quiver of Dane Reynolds is like getting to see the utensils of defining artists like Klimt, Van Gogh, or even Monet. Recently, filmer Jason “Mini” Blanchard caught up with Dane at his home in Ventura, where the maestro gives us a little insight into some of his favorite sticks. Here are four things learned from the quiver of Dane Reynolds:

1. He’s still a frother. Some people feared Dane would slip in the obscurity of dad life after the birth of his little boy, Sammy. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think he’d gain a few pounds and cut down his surfs to the weekends. But after hearing him talk a bit about his boards it’s evident the guy’s still a frothing grom.

2. He really knows his shit. Beneath all those “I don’t knows” and “not too sures” is a guy who is extremely knowledgeable in design. In fact, some of his favorite boards are shaped from his own two hands.

3. He hates color. Dane has always been a simple dude. To see this square truth, look no further than  inside his garage. With black and white floors complimented by a few dozen black and white boards, it’s easy to see that Dane hates color.

4. He has WAY too many boards. “You can never have too many boards,” they say. After today, I’m not too sure that’s entirely true. Maybe they hold sentimental value, or maybe he’s saving them for little Sammy. Either way, it wouldn’t hurt to drop off a few to some unsuspecting local groms and film their reaction.
