Mikey DeTemple has a heart condition that should preclude him from surfing. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t. If anything, the time he’s spent out of the water for surgery and to let things heal over the course of his life has given him an even greater exuberance for surfing.
As he says, “To be a surfer in New York you have to be able to drop everything and go.” Here Mikey “drops everything” one Saturday morning and gets some really fun waves.
