The Inertia

What a Margaret River Pro it was. What didn’t it have? Man turns, man eaters, man jumping out of lip, man jumping out of Box, and man, did De Souza suck out there. Jed and Vaughan-Dead break it down in all its cosmic glory.

LAWSUIT! Say hello to a different kind of shark, surf fans. The future of Australia’s Surfing Life is in jeopardy. A writer and a magazine are looking at $200k in damages for one dumb, allegedly racist, word and rightly or wrongly, surfing enters the warped world of litigation. Wooooah wooooah woooooah!

Ben Brown, the iconic Australian surfing and skate punk artist, musician, skater/surfer joins us for the duration of the show. He plays us a few of tracks (he is the frontman of the legendary surf and skate punk outfit the Hellmenn) and suffers an interview about his life, art, surf culture and the time he spat in Jed Smith’s face.

Honorable Mentions: Michel Bourez wins contest, doesn’t know how to celebrate: what is a passable claim these days? The very Australian art of slab surfing. Yo Pat Parnell, WTF is a “tube turkey?” Ben Brown spits in a four-year-old Jed Smith’s face then tows him into a fight with Bobby Martinez. And so, so much more.
