In his first Xpreshon Big Wave World Tour event, Alex Gray took home the win. Nelscott Reef turned on for the event, offering up waves in the 30-foot range for the Dive N’ Surf Oregon Pro, which was great news for the international audience watching the webcast and television coverage of the Men’s final. Universal Sports Network broadcasted some of the greatest big wave surfers to a larger audience than perhaps ever before.

Today was an epic event with excellent waves, we could not have asked for better conditions,” said Gary Linden of The Big Wave World Tour in a press release. “Everyone worked as a team – the surfers looked out for one another and the water patrol did an excellent job of keeping our competitors safe.”

This was Gray’s first time surfing at Nelscott Reef. Early in the day, he pulled out of a bomb, scoring a perfect 10 and setting the tone for the day.

Bianca Vallenti won the Women’s portion of the event. The 28-year-old Dana Point, CA native is now the first ever female Big Wave World Tour Champion after her close win over runner up Andrea Moller, who lead the event until the dying minutes of the the event.
