The Inertia

Fashion is cyclical. The new becomes old then new again, and the forgotten works its way back into a collective consciousness. In the ’70s Mark Richards won four world titles on twin fins. Then, in 1981, Simon Anderson won the Bells event on his new-fangled three-finned thruster, and radical surfing well and truly took off.

Decades later, though those single fins, twinnies, and even alias are becoming commonplace in lineups around the world. One of the people who makes those boards look the most fun is Ozzie Wright. Here he is in Byron (along with Vinnie Steele and Ari Browne) bobbing and weaving on boards from a time capsule.
