Local knowledge. You either have it or you don’t. When the Century Swell made landfall in Bali the other week, those who couldn’t hack bombing Outside Corner or heaving Padang Padang were weeded out, leaving only the most talent, most ballsy surfers in the lineup. The thing is, those who remained in the lineup were disproportionately locals and they were absolutely ripping. And that local knowledge sure did pay off, too!
