The Inertia

This wasn’t a perfect afternoon by any means, but as Cyclone Marcia was wreaking havoc up north, the prevailing south-easterlies swung west and suddenly, there was surf. Although the rain pelted and many streets adjacent to the beaches along Maroochydore were at risk of going under at any moment, no one stopped to worry about it. As the excitement grew, people ducked from their cars to peek at the waves for a second before deciding to head out.

Mitch Surman was one of those people who choose to ride a single fin among the army of thrusters, finding a way onto waves earlier and deeper than most. Kai Annetts came out to celebrate his 13th birthday and proceeded to charge waves well over double head high for him, while Jordan Spee tackled the steep take offs on his single fin with ease.
