The Inertia

Now this is a class that I wish they offered at my high school. Yeah, we had the standard wood shop and ceramics, but nothing as involved as Gone Boarding at Forest Hills Eastern High School in Michigan.

These lucky seniors get their hands dirty learning how to shape surfboards and skateboards in a class that was developed by their very own staff with the full support of their principal and superintendent. Along with all the sanding, this class offers students the opportunity to get outside surfing, skating and snowboarding. Perhaps more importantly, it helps the kids learn things that just can’t be taught in a normal classroom. The education system needs more dedicated individuals like this to help kids find their passions in life.
