The Inertia

Steph Gilmore, the reigning 5-time ASP Women’s World Champion, withdrew from the Colgate Plax Girls Rio Pro this weekend.

According to the ASP, Gilmore fractured her left foot during the Rip Curl Women’s Pro Bells Beach. Despite surfing through the events at Bells and New Zealand, the injury has yet to fully heal. Currently ranked 5th on the Women’s  Tour, Gilmore has opted to sit Brazil out to heal her foot; France’s Alize Arnaud will replace Gilmore in the competition.

The waiting period begins May 8th.
