The Inertia

You’re at the airport. Passport in hand. En route to some exotic land in search of waves. As you approach the ticketing desk, you pray that your boards aren’t going to cost you a small fortune. It’s really a gamble. Some airlines don’t charge you. Some slap you with a huge fee. And you don’t really have a choice; it’s not like you’re going to leave your boards behind.

Well now you can avoid the stress of not knowing, because the good people over at Shop Dot Surf put together a complete list of airline boardbag fees. Some of the best airlines are to fly are Hawaiian, Virgin, Qantas, South African and Air Tahiti Nui. It’s free to fly with boards on all of those carriers.

But the worst airlines to fly include United, Lufthansa and American. Those three carriers have charges that can extend into the $200 range. Oh and Croatian Airlines – avoid them at all costs. Good thing there’s no waves in the Adriatic Sea.

See the entire list here.
