This might be the most fun project we’ve ever produced.
It started with a phone call. An invitation to check out NLand Surf Park in Austin, Texas. Naturally, we were intrigued. I had surfed the Wavegarden test facility once before in Spain, so I was curious to better understand how its American counterpart might compare.
Fast forward a month, and the esteemed Leah Dawson enters NLand surf park on horseback. In cowgirl garb. With a fresh quiver of funky Ryan Lovelace custom boards to test out on those steel-cut crumblers. The Legend of the Iron Seahorse ensues. It goes a little something like this:
Explorer Leah Dawson was one wild spirit. And she had a nasty obsession with the Legend of The Iron Seahorse. As the tale goes, there existed a Shangri-la oasis right smack dab in the middle of America’s plains. It only revealed itself to that contrarian kinda character who truly believes that anything’s possible.
But is it?
