Everyone knows that bodyboarders are some of the most insane surfers around. Shit, three-quarters of the gnarliest slabs around were pioneered by them, not that surfers give them any credit. Sydney’s own Jack Baker proved every point ever made about that when he found a quick tube before being absolutely obliterated by a backwash straight from the bowels of hell. Apparently, he ended up with a burst lung (does that happen?) and internal bleeding. With time, though, he’ll be just fine… and chances are good that he’ll be charging just as hard.
“I didn’t wanna dog the backwash but I also had no real escape,” he wrote on Instagram. “I knew I was in strife but I didn’t know ide land in the ER. This wave ruined my day.”
