The Inertia

There’s tow-ats. Board transfers. The Waimea River mouth (some might call river surfing in general gimmicky). Step-offs, (which aren’t so much of a gimmick if done in the right place). And then there’s stepping off of this contraption: a “half-ton plastic raft,” the oddly-imaginative team at Stab set up in Bali so Noa Deane, Ozzie Wright, Yago Dora, Mitch Coleborn, Balaram Stack, and Imaikalani Devault could acid drop into a clean little runner. Of course, they make it look good. But “The Dock,” has a wicked reverb when it’s at full tension. A gnarly gimmick for certain.

“That thing would kill you if it hit you, yeah?” asked Noa Deane (@ilovetables) after the fact. “The Dock” is a short film we made with @volcom, a #stabconcept shoot featuring an alternative wave entry technique, displayed on the east coast of Bali in May. It’s now live on our site. Link in bio. Thanks to our surfers and @candockmodularfloatingsystem.
