This land is your land, this land is my land… this land was made for you and me. As it was made for you and me, it is also up to you and me to protect it. To do that, we must internalize the need to Live Monumental. And that is exactly what KEEN is doing with its most recent cross-country initiative — a road trip to collect 100,000 signatures on a petition to ultimately save 2.5 million acres of public lands.
How does that break down? The 2.5 million acres comprises of 590,000 acres of mountains, 350,000 acres of plateaus, 2.1 million acres of canyonlands, 950,000 acres of desert trails, and 120,000 acres of rivers. This includes Idaho’s Boulder-White Clouds, Nevada’s Gold Butte, California’s Mojave Desert, West Virginia’s Birthplace of Rivers, and Oregon’s Owyhee Canyonlands.
