The Inertia

Sensory overload is a flat-out understatement if I’ve ever written one. The trailer alone makes for a “live-action” photo album of the best board trip ever — which is why I put a photo album together, to live vicariously and pretend that I had as much fun as these boys did when filming the projectDETOUR film series in the Alps, Greece, and California. And with David Bertschinger Karg (or DBK) at the helm, you know the boys had an unconscionable amount of fun on this wayward journey of true cultural immersion.

In a recent interview with Austin Smith for Snowboard Magazine, where the Drink Water frontman talked through his jaunt to Greece, Jens Heig stated a simple truth: “To see the world is to open your eyes. Fortunately for those that love snowboarding, travel is inherent.”

Heig and Smith go on to explore how the mountain towns and most importantly PEOPLE provided an irreplaceable and unbreakable bond for himself, DBK, and the rest of the crew with the nation. The trip transcended snowboarding, skating, and surfing to tap into that underlying motivation that ultimately connects us likeminded folk. And that is what Smith, DBK and their contemporaries are currently doing so well — speaking to that visceral inspiration we all share. Take last year’s Pathology Project, which itself was a fucking awesome snowboard movie and similarly spoke to the larger spirit behind our pursuits.

But, in the end, who am I to tell you how excited to be? Watch the trailer and get a glimpse of the goods for yourself.
