The Inertia

Shark Week owns pop culture for one seven day span every year. That is a scientific fact more reliable than a lot of the stuff you’ll “learn” from watching its 168 hours of super hi-def slow mo shark breaching footage. Over. And Over. And Over again. Comedian Hannibal Buress is riding that band wagon for 2015’s rendition of the event and he has no hesitation in admitting he’s capitalizing on the occasion.

First, that shark costume is classic. Like Point Break, it’s so bad it’s good. It looks eerily familiar to the same shark The Inertia’s Juice Whale has been documenting. Which raises questions about whether or not this mythical land-roaming, fame hungry creature is actually a real animal or just some joke. I thought LA Shark was the real deal. Now I’m beginning to think all sharks are attention-craved sell outs.

But real talk, Hannibal Buress is a funny dude. These promos are already the best part of Shark Week.
