The Inertia

The most brutal part of all this might very well be the soundtrack/sound effects. In that they didn’t need to add anything to the edit to accentuate the fall in the way of a 1,600-foot wipeout.

So Ian McIntosh — veteran Ian McIntosh — got swept up while film Paradise Waits up in the Neacola range of Alaska. Even though he had studied the line as he does all lines he drops in on, there was an unseen five-foot trench that threw its shoulder into one of his early turns.

“From there, my slough took over and their was no way to stop,” Ian told Teton Gravity Research. “I pulled my airbag to help prevent against any possible trauma injuries as I tumbled to the bottom.”
