ACCOUNT MANAGER

Lola Digital Media’s Marketing Projects Team is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and flexible Account / Project Manager to join our growing company! This team is responsible for ideating, developing and executing marketing campaigns for our brands, including GearJunkie, The Inertia, and Bikerumor, on behalf of our advertisers.

The Project Manager will manage and coordinate projects from start to finish. This position will drive project timelines, communicate with internal and external contacts, and guide a project from start-to-finish to ensure project success. Strong communication skills are a must as you will be in charge of making sure that expectations are clearly communicated across internal and external teams and business partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively manage and communicate project updates, changes, and tasks with internal and external teams
• Lead internal team of Project Coordinators and cross-department teams
• Proactively manage and escalate any scope, timeline, or other concerns and risks
• Partner with cross-department teams to improve process and efficiencies
• Collaborate with content, marketing, and sales teams to plan project work, assuring that KPIs and timelines are met and exceeded for clients
• Collaborate with the Ad Ops team to monitor creative implementation, tag delivery, and QA-ing of media
• Collaborate with Audience Development teams to implement social campaigns
• Work closely with the internal content teams to manage a variety of custom content deliverables including editorial articles, video, and photo shoots
• Identify process improvements and refinements throughout the projects team

Who You Are

• A minimum of 4 years of related project and account management work experience, ideally in the digital media or advertising industry
• Experience managing teams
• Ability to handle multiple campaigns at the same time
• Success in meeting timelines and delivering results above and beyond the task
• Candidates for the position should have a basic understanding of digital advertising and marketing
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Experience with common project management systems (e.g., Monday.com, Trello, Basecamp)
• Experience with most major social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest) is a plus
• Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to work across internal departments
• A keen ability to see opportunities, understand needs, create solutions, and set proper expectations
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and/or Google Suite (e.g., Sheets, Docs)
• Photoshop or basic image-editing skill is a plus
• Experience with Google Ad Manager and Google Analytics is a plus
• Self-starter that is ambitious in nature, with an entrepreneurial approach
• PMP certification a plus
• Passion for product journalism, the outdoor industry, or an active lifestyle is a plus

FREELANCE WEEKEND EDITOR

The Inertia is seeking a freelance weekend editor to strengthen our weekend presence covering important news, events, and editorial features related to surf and outdoors on Saturday and Sunday. Individuals with all ranges of experience are welcome to apply.

Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics: 

  • 1-5 years experience as an editor or writer at an online publication
  • Strong voice; The clearer your point of view, the more compelling.
  • Proficient using WordPress, Photoshop, Canva, and other essential publishing software
  • Familiar with surf and outdoor culture and able to ideate, write, and execute original features that are timely and relevant to our readers
  • Comfortable conducting interviews and sourcing information to include in written work
  • Comfortable interacting with photographers and filmers for features
  • Proficient sharing work via social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok)
  • Positive attitude. We love what we’re doing.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and able work from home on Saturday and Sunday

VIDEO INTERN

EDITORIAL INTERN

The Inertia is seeking an Editorial Intern to share in editorial responsibilities. The position will involve writing, formatting, editing, and posting content to the site and editorial initiatives as well as participating in developing and executing the editorial calendar. The Editorial Intern is encouraged to contribute original content to the site. This is an unpaid internship, and must be eligible for school credit.

Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics:

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with emerging technology. Proficient in WordPress, HTML, Photoshop, and MailChimp and/or other e-newsletter delivery services.
  • Eligible for school credit and currently completing coursework at a four-year College or University in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field.
  • Experience working at school paper or as a journalist preferred.
  • Excellent written and communication skills. No typos.
  • Ability to be flexible, self-motivated, and work from home.
  • Ability to write professional-level stories, ready to publish on current events and breaking news on extremely short notice
  • A strong knowledge and interest in surf, mountain, and outdoor culture, the Internet, and new technology.

SOCIAL MEDIA EDITOR

The Inertia is seeking a Social Media Editor to develop The Inertia’s voice as an authority and innovator across all social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Flipboard, Twitter, and beyond. The Social Media Editor should be able to deploy original content across all networks seven days a week and optimize the voicing to fit each platform while also planning larger initiatives to innovate and expand The Inertia’s reach across all channels. The role requires excellent organizational, written, and communication skills. Success in this role hinges on driving meaningful growth, engagement, and innovative, authority-commanding initiatives across all channels. The Social Media editor will also have the opportunity to contribute original content to the website regularly and handle the growth of our email and newsletter marketing distribution.

Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics:

  • Should be highly active and familiar with best practices on Instagram, Facebook, Flipboard, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest, Google Plus, and other emerging social platforms. Ideal candidates have managed and executed meaningful growth initiatives for a premium brand’s social platforms.
  • Excellent written and communication skills. No typos. Strong voice and command of language.
  • Data and analytics-minded; Able to analyze social activities and make optimizations based on performance.
  • Graphic design skills and strong sensibility to curate a thoughtful, intentional aesthetic.
  • Photography skills a plus.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, MailChimp, and WordPress.
  • Ability to be flexible, self-motivated, and work both independently and with a team.

FREELANCE DEVELOPER

The Inertia is seeking a programmer/developer to make technical improvements to The Inertia’s website, user interface, user experience, and mobile offerings as soon as possible. The developer will work closely with our CTO as well as the editorial and sales team to create best in class technological solutions across all platforms, ensuring that The Inertia is the leader in the action sports technology and media space.

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Java, and all relevant coding languages
  • Experience developing applications, mobile interfaces, websites, and forward-looking technical solutions for media platforms
  • Ideally located in Los Angeles and available to meet at least once a week.

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

The Inertia is seeking an Account Executive to secure new business and develop relationships with strategic clients.  The Inertia Account Executive will also identify and execute on new revenue opportunities while remaining committed to the integrity and quality of our editorial offerings.

Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics:

  • 2+ years of experience in digital sales. Candidates should be well versed in online marketing and familiar with CPMs, CPCs, and comfortable structuring and maintaining digital ad buys.
  • Candidates who already have strong working relationships with clients who fit well with our mission are highly preferred.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently. Set your own hours. Be productive. Be resourceful.
  • Excellent communication skills. No typos.
