Danielle Cass lives with her husband and dog in Northern California, where they raised their 25-year-old son and 23-year-old daughter. She works at Microsoft on AI safety and security education. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer six months ago, she partnered with photographer Matt Berridge (www.mattberridge.com / Instagram @a_greener_hue) to chronicle her surf through cancer journey on a Substack blog: Danielle Rides the Cancer Wave. A two-minute short film about her midlife entry to surfing – “Learning to Surf at 52: Danielle’s Journey to Living Fearlessly” – screened at the 2022 San Diego Surf Festival.
