Surf Psychology Contributor

Dr. Ben Lacy is a board-certified adult psychiatrist, child and adolescent psychiatrist, surfer (26 years), family man (5 years) and writer. After graduating medical school in 2002, he completed 4 years psychiatric residency and 2 years child fellowship training in Hawaii. Doc Lacy attempts to bridge his scientific, medical background with experiential knowledge of surfing. Essays cover psychological aspects of surfing and surf culture. Some essays may be a bit technical or require coffee, but this is not the goal. He aspires for a better understanding of our selves and interpersonal dynamics. Quality time with family and surfing daily will cure most ailments. He currently lives in Flagler Beach, FL.
