Santa Barbara shaper Ryan Lovelace has been building a niche for himself in the custom surfboard world for a number of years, first shaping Point Concept Surfboards and more recently creating unique custom boards under his own name. His latest step is a move toward more sustainable design and construction. Ryan recently launched a fundraiser via to raise money to build a collection of boards using plant-sap based resin and recycled foam in place of traditional toxic materials. Lovelace is coordinating an art show and benefit to display the boards and their benefits; "Nobody is going to ask for better materials if shapers don't talk about them...the resin is amazing in flex and durability, I can't wait to show it off!" All profits from the art show (which will also feature many collaborations and works from other local artists) will be donated the the Save Naples Coalition.
