Sage was born and raised on Oahu. He considers it to be the best island in the world to be a surfer, which he has been since he was five years old. He once started at Ala Moana Bowls and listed every surf spot he could think of around the island and came up with 287....8 of those he has yet to surf. Currently Sage and his wife Liz own and operate a Hawaiian outrigger sailing canoe cultural tour on Maui where they teach guests about the rich history and culture, both ancient and modern, of Hawaii. He has a BA in Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a BS in Marine Transportation from the California Maritime Academy. Sage plans on surfing those last 8 spots before he dies.
