On October 5-6, The Boardroom is taking over the OC Fair and Event Center.
The Boardroom features shaping competitions, seminars, entertainment, autograph signings, and hundreds of booths filled with surfboards, legendary shapers, surf apparel, skate hardgoods, and accessory companies.
This year, they’re featuring a “Road Show” style appraisal booth, where anyone with old surf collectables can see just how much they’re worth.
Each year, they also hold the Icons of Foam Shape Off, where six of the country’s best shapers try and replicate a classic Terry Martin surfboard.
A new addition to the shaping portion of the Boardroom this year is the Chunk of Foam Challenge, where shapers spin a wheel of chance to determine what type of board they’ll shape. Then they carve it out of an eight-foot by two-foot chunk of foam. No blanks, no templates, no stringers, and no modern tools.
There’s also a daily surfboard raffle, surf films, glassing demonstrations, and a Best of Show competition.
