Utah’s Piute and Beaver Counties were ravaged by this summer’s Cottonwood fire. Just under 100,000 acres were scorched starting on June 22, 2026, and the 650-acre Eagle Point Resort was immediately devastated.
About a week after the fire had begun, management returned to the small ski area to survey the damage and revealed the resort had lost nearly half of its skiable terrain, the Canyonside lodge, more than 100 condos, and four of the five lifts had sustained damage. Resort heads announced a month later that the ski area would be rebuilding through this winter. On Wednesday, Eagle Point offered its latest update on how that rebuilding process is going.
“Although Eagle Point will not operate during the 2026-27 winter season, recovery efforts continue every day as we work toward welcoming guests and homeowners back to the mountain in the future,” the resort said in a social media post.
The post outlined three specific pieces of infrastructure and shared details of the progress.
-Post-fire cleanup of the Canyonside Lodge is finished, nearly 90 days after the fire began.
– Crews are assessing the conditions of lifts. One lift, the Monarch Lift, escaped with no damage, but the other four need repairs and engineering work. “We are encouraged that the damage remains within the scope of our insurance coverage, helping provide a path forward for restoration.”
-Repairs to the electrical grid have been finished. The resort will be ready to get power back once service is restored to the area.
A reopening date for Eagle Point Resort hasn’t been announced, but there’s no doubt it will be one big celebration for everybody there.
