Mike D and Steph Gilmore walk into a pool house. There’s no punchline. What business do 1/3 of arguably the punkiest hip hop trio ever and perhaps the most stylish woman in surfing have being in the same room anyway? You might wonder.
Well, Mike D recently began hosting a radio show this month called The Echo Chamber for Beats 1 Radio via Apple Music from his pool house in Malibu. Ok, you might say, doesn’t sound so crazy so far. As it turns out, Mike D learned to surf late in life. So for a recent episode, he invited the always pleasant Miss Gilmore – skillful in a sport for which Michael has a budding interest – on the show to talk about a song for which she has a certain affinity.
The way the pair talk casually about opening for Madonna (in the case of Mike D) or traveling through Mexico with Taylor Steele (in the case of Steph) and hearing a Madonna song on the radio is like a 1, 2 punch of incredible stories that the average Joe or Jane may frustratingly never experience.
Also, who knew Steph was also an amazing ping ponger?
