The Inertia

Over the last few years, it seems as though most everyday surfers have realized that a surfboard a professional rides at Pipeline is, perhaps, not the best surfboard for the slop they surf most often. Sure, it would be nice to surf perfect waves every day, but if that were the case, those perfect days would stop being perfect.

Board makers have thrown themselves into everyday shapes, and the results are good, to say the least. R&D into eggs and mid-lengths and fishes and what have you is producing some truly fantastic surfboards, and Firewire is leading the charge. The newest addition to the quiver is a fun-looking egg fittingly called the Ova.

“We called this board the Ova because OVA means eggs in Latin,” Ben Skinner explains. “This is our interpretation of the traditional egg design that we all fell in love with.”
