The Inertia

From the island of Hokkaido, a Japanese story — an untapped coastline, unlimited powder snow, and the snowsurf revolution. Led by stalwart pioneers in Taro Tamai and Gerry Lopez and given youthful embodiment by the likes of Alex Yoder and Forrest Shearer, this revolution will be televised.

The trailer was first featured by Frequency, and promises to be a “a full-length feature documentary on the snowsurf subcultural revolution taking place in the waves, mountains and deep, deep snow of Japan’s northernmost island.”

Who fills out the cast? An absurdly inspiring who’s-who of snowsurfing…that’s who: Ken Miyashita, Osamu “Om” Okada, Beau Young, Hideki Takeda, Hidehiko Wajima, Makato Yamada, Par Dahlin, Timo Paarvala, Kazushi Yamauchi, Alex Lopez, Takuya Harayama, Tomomi Kuwahara, Toru Kuwahara, Toshiya Kasuga, Jarrkko Kauranen, Haruna Kito, and more from the Gentemstick Family.

The film looks to make its premiere this fall. If, like us, you need glimpses of the greatness now, then head on over to The Snowboarder’s Journal and check out the introductory web gallery.
