The makers of “Cowspiracy” are releasing a new documentary next week that features surfer, WQS competitor and outspoken vegan Tia Blanco. The film, called “What the Health,” will be available for streaming from the film’s website on March 16 for $9.99.

The trailer hints that the documentary takes aim at the role of major health organizations like the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association in the epidemics of diabetes and heart disease.

“The film exposes the collusion and corruption in government and big business that is costing us trillions of healthcare dollars, and keeping us sick,” says the website.

Here is another tidbit from the film’s marketing materials:

“The film follows intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the secret to preventing and even reversing chronic diseases – and investigates why the nation’s leading health organizations don’t want us to know about it. With heart disease and cancer the leading causes of death in America, and diabetes at an all-time high, the film reveals possibly the largest health cover-up of our time.”

The makers of the new film, Keegan Kuhn and Kip Andersen, were behind the breakout hit “Cowspiracy,” the 2014 documentary that examined the impact of animal agriculture on global warming and the failure of environmental organizations to address it. “Cowspiracy” has a rating of 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and just a shade under five stars (out of five) on Netflix.

Blanco posted on Instagram that she appears in the film alongside other athletes.
