California didn’t have many significant runs of swell this summer. Yes, there were waves here and there. But there were some pretty dreadful flat spells on the West Coast. And we mean dreadful. The last great run of XXL worthy swell to hit California shores came in early May, which was technically three weeks before summer had started.
But then again, this is California we’re talking about. It’s one of the most beautiful places on the planet, even if you didn’t come here for the waves. So while some Californians whine about the infrequent swells that filled (or didn’t fill) June, July and August we can easily take a look at these six minutes and remember it wasn’t such a slow after all.
