The Inertia

Nobody has more fun than the brothers Gudang. The blonde-haired San Clemente locals are seemingly stoked for eternity. And when they travel as much as they do, it all starts to make sense. A short film called Outerspace shows Dane Gudang as he travels the globe in search of waves, with his brothers tagging along as well.

(NOTE: Due to privacy settings, the clip cannot be embedded here. To watch it, head over to Vimeo.)

As a behemoth of a specimen, Dane has no trouble man-handling all different types of waves. The clip shows him casually controlling massive Cloudbreak. He destroys fun-sized Lowers with his signature grab rail cutbacks. Then Dane braves the frigid waters of Iceland (where he also kills it, despite thick layers of neoprene). And in Morocco, Dane is joined by his brothers as they assault the region’s reeling right-handers. At XXL Mavericks, the boys show how well-rounded their surfing is through some fearless commitment in heavy conditions. And finally, the clip ends with Dane going HAM at Teahupoo. The guy spends more time in the tube than most humans.

Dane (and the other Gudang bros.) are superhuman extraterrestrials, which makes Outerspace an apt title for this edit. They’re cosmic nomads, traveling to foreign lands in search of exotic waves, crystalline blue tubes and, of course, a good time.
