Who's your money on?

Who’s your money on?

The Inertia

World Titles aren’t always decided in Hawaii. Granted, if you ask the competitors themselves they might tell you they’d like to have a championship in the bag by the time the last stop on tour kicks off, but nothing perks up the ears of fans like a chase that comes down to the wire. This year we’re lucky enough to have that scenario on both tours.

For the ladies, we have Carissa Moore standing within reach of her third title while Courtney Conlogue goes after her first. Moore took two wins to start off the year, then snagged another at Trestles this fall. Conlogue has wins in Australia, Brazil and Portugal this year, and she’s also the only surfer to top Moore in a final in 2015.

You’d be hard pressed to find a soul who couldn’t root for either of these women. They’ve been neck and neck all year but a title would mean something different for each of them, which is something the WSL explored while the Target Maui Pro waits to get started. You get the sense listening to  both women that they’ll be just as happy to stand on the podium and be the first to congratulate the other when it’s all said and done. So…can you pick a side?
