The Inertia

For me breakfast is the most important part of my day, especially during contests and competitions. I don’t like to surf or play water polo on a full stomach so it’s a fine balance of getting enough of the right calories to keep me fueled while not over eating. My breakfast all depends on the time of my competition. I can be more flexible if I have a later game. In that case, I like to eat heavier in the morning and then snack the rest of the day. Also, water polo and surfing involve lots of traveling to countries that might not have the same luxuries as home. Therefore, when I travel I will always bring instant oatmeal and peanut butter, and I will try to get some kind of fruit while I’m there. The peanut butter gives me the right amount of protein and the fruit gives me carbs that will keep me fueled. Plus, being prepared and packing breakfast staples gives me one less stress on the road while preparing for game time. However, my perfect, ideal breakfast would be fruit, yogurt and granola in addition to a small plate of scrambled eggs and, of course, coffee! This breakfast is the perfect mixture of carbs and protein that allows me to perform at my best.
