Have you ever spent forever and a day looking for something to soon find that it was right under your nose the entire time? Yeah, well, this is likely what every athlete-seeking surf company is feeling at the moment.
Not too far in the distant past, the half Indo, half Aussie regular-footer was grinding on the ‘QS and appeared on nearly every window and billboard around Bali. He was living the dream, residing in Indonesia and getting paid to surf. But when his main sponsor unexpectedly dropped him a few years ago, Lee seemingly disappeared from the limelight and traded his surfboards for paint brushes. That, of course, was not remotely close to the case.
Truth is, Lee didn’t go anywhere. While he wasn’t spending time with his family, Lee was out sucking down yummy lattes and showing everyone that he still is indeed a true legend of Indo. But as it turns out, Lee is at it again, looking for sponsors. My guess is that this clip will be met with a lot of phone calls and e-mails. Here’s what the edge doctor himself had to say:
“After scrubbing dishes for eight months, the missus decided that she would spot me a ticket to Bali and surf in the 2015 Rip Curl Padang Cup. That didn’t end up happening due to lack of swell. Waves were so fun though. My buddy Ivan thought it would be a good idea to sit on the beach and cook (film me), so we could put a ‘Sponsor me tape’ together. Carlo help us piece it. Enjoy.”
