Nic von Rupp is such a great character. It’s ridiculous, really. He has three different passports, speaks five languages, and he inherits the best characteristics from all the different blood that flows through his veins. He’s almost on time like a German, always friendly and polite like a Swiss, and passionate and loving like a Portuguese.
We had a good time with him a couple of weeks ago in Lisbon. Pumping waves and the premiere of his new movie Four Cliffs was reason enough for Island Collective to travel to Lisbon. And on behalf of one of Nic’s sponsors, G-Shock, we took along some German media to cover this epic trip.
The old cinema, Sao Jorge, was packed. You could feel Nic’s nervousness. Family, friends, sponsors, fellow pro surfers, and many people from the surfing industry came out to support Nic’s highly anticipated movie. The film was mind-blowing, to say the very least. Nic truly is one of Europe’s best tube riders. He’s no stranger to big waves either. Here’s a small gallery featuring Nic and friends the week of the premiere. Enjoy!
