Shane Dorian is a rare breed. The former world tour surfer turned big wave hero who moonlights as a CrossFit all-star is about as active as they come. When he’s not chasing big swell across the globe, he’s usually home on the Big Island of Hawaii with his family and training for his next challenge. Dorian has plugged into quite the elite crew of athletes on the Big Island, including CrossFit Games competitor, Matt Chan. Although they don’t usually take too much time off from their rigorous training schedule, on this particular day, Dorian and Chan decided to go easy on themselves. Instead of hitting the gym, they swam the 2.4 mile Ironman course. Although the area has a healthy population of tiger sharks, Dorian and Chan thoroughly enjoyed their day of rest and relaxation with no wildlife issues.
