The Inertia

Learning to snowboard can be a humbling experience, especially when you get whipped onto your noggin by that large edge, leaving you with whiplash like you were in a traffic accident. But here’s a little gadget that can help you control your grom’s speed and chances of taking said whipper: The Burton Riglet is $30 and attaches to tiny boards–maybe big boards, too, if dad needs help from mom. It allows parents and teachers to pull young grasshoppers along, allowing them to feel the glide, or to control speed as the youngins’ head downhill. Burton even set up a “Riglet Park” at the US Open in Vail, Colo. last weekend. Check out the Vail Daily’s John LaConte as he takes his 14-month-old daughter Lilia shredding for the first time. He swears that’s her laughing, not crying, with joy (maybe she wants to ski, dad?). So if you can get past Lilia letting her dad have it, you can see what we mean.
