Vasu Sojitra is a badass. And the next time you want to find an excuse not to go out in the backcountry, think of him. Just before he was a year old, he was diagnosed with a blood disease called Septicemia. He had to have his leg amputated so the disease wouldn’t spread. But that didn’t hold him back. Or make him any less of a skier. Check out this piece Vasu put together from a recent trip to Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains–if you haven’t been to a hut in this range, it’s a bucket list item, BTW. The University of Vermont grad uses a snow shoe shovel on his poles to make sure he doesn’t sink when climbing. And the dude absolutely rips.
