Ah, spring is in the air. And, as far as we know, the animal kingdom is procreating and reproducing with its usual ravenousness. It’s just that us humans often get unusually stoked when we reproduce for the first time. And this guy got really stoked. Last year, when German Simon Schaffrath’s wife, Saskia, was getting ready to deliver her first child, Schaffrath wanted to announce the baby’s name–and sex–in a manner fitting his very individual stoke: by painting life-like scenes onto his wife’s baby bump and super-imposing himself into his favorite mountain scenes from snowboarding, to hiking to golfing. Boom! Simon was frothing. Check out this intricate mountain scene he meticulously paints on Saskia’s tummy and ahem, breasts.

He does the same with his winter scene. Obviously, the kid’s name is Theo:

This is the best part though. For each scene he creates, he does a quick studio of himself in the garb fitting said scene (hey, at least he’s authentic).

He says each scene took up to a week to finish (that is one patient wife). Here’s how they came out. As you can see, the mother’s curves become part of the scene:

Here’s one thing that’s certain: Theo is a lucky kid. Any dad who cares enough to pull this off is going to be a great father. “I’m a photographer and graphic designer,” he said. “And we were both bored of the endless man-hold-wife’s-belly pictures. Both of us had a lot of fun creating these pictures – it took us time but we enjoyed being creative. We hope that when our son sees the pictures in the future, they’ll tell him how happy we were to have him.’
