The Inertia

Pogo sticks have always been kind of gimmicky. But this Southern California company, Vurtego,is putting the traditional kids toy on a big round of steroids.

The V4 is built with an aircraft aluminum casing, a beefy shock and stainless steel slide-shaft that allows for massive airs. One of these things can actually launch a rider 10 feet in the air. And pogoers (is that a word?) can adjust the bounce in their stick by simply inflating or deflating the air shaft like one would a bike tire. That air adjustment is key–not only can it be adjusted to fit experience (think pro vs. newbie) but also to the users weight, which means lots of different people of different sizes and shapes can use the same stick.

Vurtego–which calls its pogos a “portable trampoline”–is in the middle of crowd funding its product, but hopes to make a splash this summer with three different versions: a standard model for a wide range of users, a pro mode that allows users to go bigger and a “Fit” version for exercise pogo (might not take off but who knows?) as well as pogos in different sizes.
