Sorry folks, it’s not Bud Light. It’s not PBR or Corona either. You’re going to have to be a little more picky if you want to win the title of healthiest beer connoisseur/ booze lover.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, craft beer drinkers (we’ll call them CBDs) have been deemed the healthiest of all the drinkers by a recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll. The survey took a look at 1,978 booze drinkers, and apparently those who are picky with their beer are also pretty aware of most things they put in their body.
These individuals are more likely than the average drinker to consume alcohol in moderation. They were also more likely to drink only on the weekends and not regularly during the week. CBDs perhaps view alcohol as a kind of special treat, rather than a staple beverage.
This kind of conscientiousness also translates into the dietary habits of CBDs. The survey found that 80% of craft beer aficionados paid attention to nutrition labels, as compared to only 73% of normal drinkers. 27% of CBDs also regularly sought out local foods, while only 21% of normal drinkers did the same. Finally 18% of CBDs pay attention to the calorie content of what they consume, as compared to only 14% of normal drinkers.
Additionally, CBDs tend to exercise more regularly as well. In addition to paying attention to what they’re putting into their body, CBDs pay attention to energy output as well. Nearly 60% of CBDs claim that they exercise several times a week as a part of their normal routine.
The study also found that more than any other kind of drinker, CBDs love to exercise in groups. It turns out 40% of craft beer lovers prefer to workout with friends rather than sweat it out alone. Because, friends.
It’s also worth noting that craft beer has become increasingly popular among millennials. Some note that millennials are the most health conscious generation yet, which brings us to the question, do the hip youths drink craft beer because they’re healthy, or are they healthy because they drink craft beer?
