The Inertia

Yep, some people are just too radical for SUPing. If you’re one of those blessed souls, and are secure enough with yourself to try something totally new (not likely since stand-up paddling is seemingly below you), then strap on a pair of River Skis from Riverski Sports LLC. The company’s featured model, The Hydra, retails for $799 and allows you to run rivers and traverse flatwater with an extended paddle, just like you were shredding the slopes. While the company swears they’re not a hazard to your ACL, Riverski Sports guarantees a good time. If the music in the above video doesn’t get you stoked, then catching eddies in these babies certainly will.

This obviously isn’t the first time someone’s taken their passion for skiing to the water. Skier and kiter  Jason Starr put his love of both to the test when he created these babies for shredding waves some six years ago:

Starr is actually a pretty talented skier. But perhaps no one did snow skiing on the water like Chuck Patterson. The uber athlete towed into Jaws wearing a pair of modified skies, actually pulling off a few high-speed GS turns:

So if you’re just not into SUP, river skiing could be the next big thing this summer.
