The Wedge is Newport’s crown jewel. It’s a freak of a wave–one of those weird oddities that, when it turns on properly, attracts a whole hell of a lot of attention. It’s one of the few places where the emphasis isn’t on making the wave to completion. Instead, the emphasis is on the shack. If you’re doing it right, nine times out of ten you’re not making it out.
