A few years ago, Jake Voss bought a Volkswagen Transporter van. Like many surfers, a home away from home was almost a necessity–great waves aren’t always near a hotel, and camping and living on the road carries a certain sense of freedom. It’s that sense of freedom that attracts many surfers to vanlife. Voss’s van became known as Big Bird, and once he got it dialed in, he hit the road for a month-long trip to Noosa Heads, Australia and beyond.
