When John Florence won the world championship, it felt like a long time coming. Everyone knew it was going to happen, and every year it didn’t it just felt as though the inevitable was being put off. There’s no place on earth quite like Hawaii–surfing is a part of everyone’s life there, whether they surf or not. And John John Florence is their golden boy.
