The Inertia

The night session might be the most joyful novelty in surfing. It’s just cool. It’s fun. It’s different than our normal process of navigating through crowded lineups, and different can be great. Mark Visser’s done it at Jaws. Kassia Meador just celebrated one of the rarest moons in 70 years with an after hours session. And Mick Fanning just did it under one of nature’s greatest light shows. So as we know, the experience can range from playful to flat out gnarly. I would say Jamie O’Brien’s recent night sesh at Pipe is closer to the latter, even if the North Shore hasn’t looked like its usual jaw dropping self lately.

We’re all dying to see Pipe light up like a Christmas tree right now. The Pacific Ocean isn’t exactly cooperating during the contest window of the year’s Pipe Masters, so here’s JOB taking it literally.
