While many on the North Shore this winter were focused on making their mark, progressing high performance surfing to new heights, Alex Knost and Ellis Ericson chose to look backwards, and keep things classic.
“One of the first things that me and Al do whenever we get to the North Shore is we’ll go see Duncan [Campbell] down at the Bonzer Front Cafe,” says Ellis.
Duncan and his brother Malcolm, of course, are the Campbell brothers – responsible for pioneering the bonzer. Alex and Ellis pay tribute to that period by taking out a few bonzers for themselves. They also test pilot a few of their own hand shapes.
